The man kept crocodile as a pet to cure depression

Mr. Joie Henney suffered from depression and went to the doctor for treatment.


However, Mr. Henney did not want to take medicine. The doctor agreed to treat him with a pet to provide emotional support. Instead of cats and dogs, Henney had a male crocodile.

Mr. Henney, 65, named the crocodile Wally. The animal lives with him at his home in Pennsylvania (USA), according to Oddity Central.

The crocodile is longer than 1.5 meters. Unlike its natural counterparts, this animal is gentle and likes to be caressed and cuddled by its owner.

Even the crocodile is so gentle that it has never attacked anyone and is afraid of cats. This is why Wally’s teeth can tear Mr. Henney’s arm at any time but he is not afraid.

“The crocodile is just like a pet dog. It wants to be loved and pampered. Wally helps my spirits get more excited”, Mr. Henney shared.

“When I felt sad, Wally seemed to sense this. So he will crawl to me. He even climbed onto the bed when he was not feeling well”, he added.

As of 2019, Wally is 4 years old. When mature, the crocodile can be up to 5 meters long. With this huge size, it can only live with humans when Mr. Henney is still raising as a pet in the house.

Wally came to Mr. Henney by chance. One of his friends caught the crocodile and was about to kill. Mr. Henney saved the animal by adopting it.

However, the man who did not expect himself to be indebted to the animal. Mr. Henney has struggled with depression. Since taking Wally home, he feels his illness rapidly improving.

After that, Mr. Henney registered the crocodile with the regulator as an emotional support animal. These animals will make you people who are mentally ill, usually emotional support animals in the US are dogs and cats.

Since then, he has taken the crocodile to stroll around the park, shop, or even visit friends in the nursing home, according to Fox News.
